Question; If we’re all human why don't we all think the same or understand each other and does war make the society lose its grasp on reality.
While reading Slaughterhouse 5 our group came up with two question; the main question was, if we are all human why can’t we understand each other and from that question we wondered if war can cause the society to lose its self. We chose this question because some people in our group had a different opinion. Despite having different opinions we all agreed that everyone is different and thinks about things in their own way. https://folsompastor.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/opinions1.jpg. Some said that misunderstanding/thinking differently was linked to human nature and it is human nature to have different morals and the different morals cause people to think differently. For example, due to morals people think sex should be saved for marriage and others think it should be done to further a relationship. Also, people think differently because of their morals. While others said some people are born with a chemical imbalance in the brain that cause people to think differently or changes in the way someone thinks is caused by experiences like war or substance abuse. For example, after Billy’s crash, we think his brain was damaged to the point it wasn’t able to be repaired to think and perceive as “normal” people would causing him to have symptoms of PTSD and chemical imbalance in the brain can cause mental illnesses like alzheimer's, depression, stress reaction and anxiety. An example of changing opinion due to experience is when a child dislikes dogs for the rest of his or her life because a dog bit him or her. http://petbragger.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/qnzr.jpg . Misunderstanding is linked to human nature which causes war, which causes more misunderstandings and then more wars. It is a cycle that will always occur as long as there is misunderstanding.. Also, since war causes people to lose it identity and people make up the society then the society also loses its grasp on reality. So If we want to stop the misunderstanding, the cycle of war and the lost of society, we need to accept each others differences.
